My golden retriever used to hate brushing time, but the way the short bristles polish her coat leaves it so smooth she actually stands still for it now. Her undercoat mats are gone after just two sessions.
The long bristles actually get down into the undercoat where my slicker just skimmed the surface, and the short ones leave the top looking polished. My golden's coat feels softer and has a nice shine after a few weeks of use.
